How can I include E-R type diagrams in the docs?

For database diagrams, you have a couple options:

1. create the diagram in some external tool such as SSMS, EM, Erwin, etc and export it to a gif/jpg/png/etc. Then write a small html page that includes the gif. You can then include that page in the generated docs using the "custom navigation hierarchies" feature. Actually using this feature you can include arbitrary html pages in the docs. 2. define a data model diagram in a config file and sqlspec will generate the diagram for you. However these diagrams are pretty simple - for each object they just show a colored box icon, no real detail on the object. It just shows how all objects are linked together. for detail on the object, click the icon and you'll be taken to the page for that object.
